Stapleton was Denver’s primary Airport until Denver Stapleton International Airport was decommissioned in 1995. The last flight from Stapleton was flown by Continental Airlines, which was destined for London Gatwick on February 27, 1995. Currently Denver International Airport (DIA) is Denver’s primary airport in Adams County to the Northeast of where Stapleton redevelopment is.
